We've got a bunch of great new games coming out this year, which we hope you'll enjoy! Before we can release them, though, they have to be tested thoroughly. We always test them ourselves, of course -- but we also need an outside test, with host and players who haven't been involved in writing and editing the game, so they can bring a fresh eye to it and see things that we miss through being too close to it. This is where you could come in! If you're interested in playtesting one of our new games, please do mail in and tell us, and if we approve you we'll add you to the playtester list. The way it works is like this:
- we tell you when we've got a game ready for testing, and what date we need the test done by;
- if you can do it in that timeframe, you set the date, and we send you the game materials (free of charge, of course);
- you cast the characters and organize a murder mystery party in exactly the same way as normal;
- after the party, you and your players complete a brief form, to feed back to us about how the game went and what sort of changes might need to be made to it.
Now, because of the nature of the playtesting job, we are going to be quite picky about whom we will consider for this. Most importantly, you MUST have hosted at least one Freeform Games murder mystery game before. When you mail in, please tell us which of our games you've hosted, and what you thought of it / them -- in particular if you thought there was anything that didn't work properly or needed improvement. Plus, anything else you'd like to tell us which you feel makes you particularly suitable as a playtester. The other thing is that it'll tend to be fairly short notice -- no more than a month or so -- so if it's not going to be practical for you to organize a party in that sort of time, you might not be ideal for us. However, if you do join the list and we ask you if you'd like to test a game, and for some reason it's not convenient at that time, we won't take you off the list just for that -- you will get more opportunities! We will need you to return your feedback form to us (by email) within a few days of the game, and also you'll have to get your players to do so, either directly or via you. (By the way, it's not necessary that your players have played one of our games before.) But to make up for the work of the forms, you'll be one of the first people in the world to experience a terrific new murder mystery party game! Mo & Steve |
