A few notes of explanation about this process:
We don't have our own secure card-payment server. Instead the process is
administered for us by PayPal, a specialist firm. (If you want to know more about them,
click on their logo to the side here.) You'll see the url in your browser address bar change to
starting with 'https://' instead of the usual 'http://', and you'll
see a padlock appear at the bottom of your browser window. This is to indicate that the
connection is now encrypted, and thus there is no danger of your card details going
astray or being read by anyone that shouldn't. In fact, they don't get read by
anyone at all, it's all automated. Neither we nor the PayPal staff will see your
card details, or get any opportunity to keep them once the transaction's
completed.
