Mark Schaefer

Mark was raised in New England, but somehow wound up in Los Angeles. He hosted his first Freeform Game, Death on the Gambia, in 2003. He hosted another, played another one or two after that, and then thought, “maybe I can do this.” And so he did.

Mark is now retired from over 25 years in educational publishing. He still lives in Los Angeles with his wife. They enjoy traveling, most frequently to Toronto to visit their daughter and grandchildren.
