Boone Tallan’s The Deadly Library playtest photos

Boone was one of our playtesters, and says:

One of my friends did all the cooking and another who’s into theater did a lot of decorating! We had life sized portraits of some family members, fake book centerpieces, a painted library backdrop, covered the TV with a tapestry, and so on. Everyone’s costumes were fantastic too.

We had 12 players, so we added Dr. Avery. The night started out smoothly, with talk of politics, and then the dramatic and untimely demise! ,The library opened very quickly and half the cast made a mad dash to try and figure the code out. A few didn’t bother to pick up a codebreaking sheet, like James, he would much rather interview suspects.

In a completely organic side tangent, Edmund proposed to Mable! She said yes.

Overall, this was a success. I would say it’s also one of the easiest games in terms of effort I’ve hosted, no combat and no pickpocketing meant I could essentially station myself next to the archives and only be bothered with that.

The few first-timers I had said it was easy to pick up and learn. Having a live death was also supremely fun and a good way to shake things up. Our player returned with a different outfit, scar make up, and even color contact lenses to be a different guy!
