Character scoresheets

Reviewing the scoresheets

Giancarlo Benedetti shared with us an idea he uses to help calculate how everyone did.

(We talked a bit about this before in Keeping Score.)

So, for each character, Giancarlo creates a “results page” that consists of:

That character’s goals

Key questions, such as:

  • Who is the murderer?
  • How did they murder their victim?
  • Why did they murder their victim?
And other questions specific to the game, such as who is the jewel thief?

And space for more general comments.

Giancarlo hands these sheets out before the big reveal.

He says,

“I hosted the murder mystery party this past Friday. It was a blast. I had a lot of newcomers who were apprehensive leading up to the event, but once it started, they quickly acclimated and let themselves be taken by the moment and enjoy it. The result pages worked amazingly well, as everyone was asked to fill them out quickly before reading out the solution.

“I handed out awards at the end, including best costume and best acting awards, and the results pages were instrumental in allowing me to quickly assess how everyone did and be able to hand out a ‘Who won?’ award.”
