My first time hosting one of these; we chose this game because there were only 8 players in total (many others required more than that).

We enjoyed it overall, as the host I found the instructions were nice and clear although there were quite a few bits of paper to keep track of. It was nice that the host could get involved in a few ways, too, via various player abilities.

There were plenty of threads for people to investigate beyond the murder itself, which was good – I think my one criticism would be that the murder itself was a little straightforward (I’m not really sure how the murderer was supposed to avoid getting caught).

Also, there isn’t any structured scoring or explicit winners/losers at the end. Instead there’s a fixed ending which reveals the truth of the murder and then you just discuss what other things people found out. That was all good though!

Would definitely consider using freeformgames again in future!
